Oceanside CA— At approximately 10:00 this morning, January 22, 2015, Oceanside lifeguards were notified of a dolphin in distress (entangled in line) on the south side of the Oceanside pier. Three lifeguards responded on Guardian 1 to investigate.

Upon arrival they found an approximately 6 foot dolphin with a line attached to its tail. Two lifeguards entered the water caught the dolphin and were able to remove the line safely from the tail. After the line was free the dolphin swam away under his own power.
