Carlsbad CA— On Sunday, December 21 2014 at approximately 2:00 pm, City of Carlsbad Police Officers were dispatched to the Marshall’s Department Store at 1834 Marron Rd. regarding a robbery that had just occurred. Marshall’s loss prevention agents witnessed the theft of a display item. Loss prevention agents followed the suspect (later identified as Leonard TRI) out of the store. When loss prevention agents attempted to detain TRI, TRI displayed what appeared to be firearm.
Officers responded and searched the area of Marshall’s with the assistance of the San Diego County Sheriff’s helicopter. TRI was not located in the area.
Officers followed investigative leads which led them to the 900 block of Tamarack Ave. At approximately 4:20 pm, officers observed a subject matching the description of TRI at 970 Tamarack Ave. TRI was taken into custody without incident. At that time, officers also detain Jason Eisenheart. Eisenheart was arrested for being an accessory to the crime due to the fact that Eisenheart assisted TRI with his escape from the crime scene.
Officers also discovered that TRI was in possession of a knife that was shaped to resemble a gun and that this was likely the item that he displayed at the scene of the shoplifting.
