Temecula CA— Over the weekend of November 7 – 8, 2014 the Riverside Sheriff’s Association hosted its 19th Annual K9 Team Competition in the city of Temecula at the Linfield Christian School, 31950 Pauba Road, in Temecula.
The competition highlighted obedience drills, bite demonstrations, area searches and an agility course. Representing the Oceanside Police Department were Officer Smith and his partner Nero, Officer Hay and his partner Gonzo, and Officer Wilson and his partner Atlas.
Other teams competed from Riverside County, San Diego County, Las Vegas, Bakersfield, Camp Pendleton and as far away as Mexico and Canada. There were 63 teams in the narcotics competition and 57 patrol teams.
The Oceanside teams took the following awards:
- Officer Wilson and Atlas won third place in Narcotics – parcels and third place overall novice division out of 63 teams.
- Officer Hay and Gonzo won first place in obedience, first place agility, and third place area search out of 57 teams.
- Officer Smith and Nero won first place area search and second place obedience out of 57 teams.
