Carlsbad CA– Coaster service has resumed to and from Oceanside after the Carlsbad Station was closed due to a fatality on the tracks, shortly before 1:00p.m.
This afternoon, October 27, 2014, at approximately 12:55 pm, the Sheriff’s Transit Enforcement Unit responded to a train versus pedestrian collision at the Carlsbad Village Transit Station, located 2775 State Street, in the city of Carlsbad. A female adult was fatally struck by a northbound Amtrak passenger train.
According to witnesses, the pedestrian was walking westbound across the tracks using the pedestrian crossing when she was struck. All warning devices were activated and functioning properly to indicate the approaching train.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Enforcement Unit will be handling the investigation. Anyone with information about this case can call the Sheriff’s Department non-emergency line at (858)565-5200.
