Vista CA– On September 25, 2014, at about 10:30 AM, deputies and detectives from the Vista Station responded to assist Riverside Sheriff’s personnel with a burglary investigation that occurred in Riverside county.
Jason Shimp, a possible suspect in their case, was located at a residence in Vista, 314 Plymouth Drive. During the course of the preliminary investigation, numerous weapons, including handguns, an altered assault rifle, a scoped rifle and a shotgun were located.
Additionally, several high capacity magazines, possible silencers and suspected explosive making materials were located inside the residence. Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson detectives and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives were called to assist and subsequently determined there were no active explosive devices in the residence.
Jason Shimp was arrested and subsequently booked at the Vista Jail. Follow-up investigation is on-going by detectives from the Riverside and San Diego County Sheriff’s Departments.
