Oceanside CA– The new manager for the Oceanside Harbor, Paul Lawrence, was introduced during a “Meet and Greet” at the Jolly Roger Restaurant on Wednesday. Mr. Lawrence comes to Oceanside from the Dana Point Harbor where he served as the Operations Manager for 13 years.
“Everyone has been very welcoming and the staff has been so supportive” said Lawrence at the event that included; Mayor Jim Wood, Deputy Mayor Esther Sanchez, Councilmember Jack Feller and City Manager Steve Jepsen.
“There are a lot of similarities between the Dana Point Harbor and the Oceanside Harbor.” explained Lawrence “Both have hotels, a boat ramp, retail shops and a yacht club, where the Dana Point Harbor has two clubs.” continued Lawrence, “My experience with those things, in Dana Point, will bring a benefit to my work here.”
The Dana Point Harbor encompasses 276 acres compared to the 100 acres of the Oceanside Harbor and Dana Point is a county owned operation. “I had to work with a lot of different entities in Dana Point from the Orange County Government and Sheriffs Department to the City of Dana Point and the local police.They all work remarkably well together.”
Lawrence is a California Licensed Real Estate Broker with a background in commercial real estate and served on the California Coastal Commission’s original California Clean Marina Advisory Committee. There was a constant stream of people waiting to meet and speak with the new manager at the two-hour event. “I’m going to be asking a lot of questions, gather all the information I can, and absorb everything so I understand exactly where we need to go to work.” said Lawrence.
Mr. Lawrence began work at his new position in Oceanside on August 25 with an annual starting salary of $123,120.
