Oceanside CA – MainStreet Oceanside’s Economic Restructuring Committee has partnered with Visit Oceanside and the City of Oceanside to bring a volunteer driven “Downtown Ambassador” program to Oceanside.
The program started on May 22nd to guide tourists and locals to local hot spots and destination attractions. The program is intended to make visitors feel welcome as they experience and explore downtown Oceanside. Beginning June 10th, the Downtown Ambassador Program will operate from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Tuesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., on Thursday.
Mainstreet is looking for more volunteer Ambassadors to help direct Oceanside visitors to local businesses and provide information that will help the local economy.
“The goal is to create a friendly environment by providing great customer service to our downtown visitors” said Gumaro Escarcega. Ambassadors will guide and direct downtown patrons to restaurants, museums, retail shops, public parking, and public transportation as well as provide general event information and answer other questions downtown visitors may have.
“If someone wants to go to Carlsbad, we’ll send them to Carlsbad, as long as they come back to Oceanside” said Escarcega during the MainStreet Oceanside monthly meeting. “The program has had a very positive reception by the downtown community.” continued Gumaro, ” The Fine Dining Guide and The ‘Visit Oceanside’ Visitors guide have been the most popular items handed out.” Ambassadors will also provide information about current and future developments in the downtown and will collect data that impacts our downtown community.
If you are interested in volunteering as an Ambassador, please contact Gumaro Escarcega at 760.754.4512 ext. 102 or email- Gumaro@mainstreetoceanside.com.
