Oceanside CA- Oceanside firefighters quickly extinguished a blaze in an apartment complex at 231 Blossom Way in the Pepperwood Villas Complex. The fire was contained to one unit of the two story, five unit building.
Firefighters were dispatched, this afternoon, to a call of a neighbors house on fire at 4:10PM and arrived on scene at 4:16PM to smoke showing from the roof of the building.
“Some kids came knocking on my door yelling the buildings on fire.” said Tiessa Bandy who lives in the end unit of the building. “I wasn’t sure if I should believe them but I looked out the back window and black smoke was just pouring out of the building.” continued Bandy “It was definitely on fire.” Melissa Adrienne who also lives in the building helped grab the cats and dogs from the unit and watched the firefighters work. Adrienne said she didn’t know what was burning “this” time at the complex. “It’s always a trash fire or a garage fire here.” In fact, firefighters quickly extinguished a garage fire on March 18th just behind the building involved in this incident.
Oceanside Battalion Chief, Peter Lawrence said firefighters made a rapid interior attack and search of the units. They had the fire under control at 4:33PM. Five engines, one truck, two ambulances and two chiefs with 26 firefighters responded to the incident. Carlsbad Fire Department also assisted in the response.
The fire was contained to one unit and the cause is currently under investigation. No damage estimate is available at this time. Residents in the non affected units were allowed to return to their homes at 4:41PM
