Oceanside CA- A pedestrian was struck and killed on Highway 76 and Benet Rd, shortly before 10:30, Saturday night. The victim was the second in as many nights to die while crossing busy intersections in North County.
The Oceanside victim was in the crosswalk at Highway 76 and Benet Rd when hit by a vehicle traveling westbound on 76. Despite resuscitation efforts, the victim was pronounced dead on the scene. Identification is being withheld until notification of next of kin and the incident is under investigation.
Friday night in Vista, a vehicle struck and killed a man while he was attempting to cross North Santa Fe Ave at Angeles Vista Drive. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor for either driver in the two fatalities.
