Oceanside CA-San Diego County Crime Stoppers and investigators from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Elder Abuse Unit are asking for assistance from the public to help identify and locate the suspects wanted in an elder abuse theft case.
On March 10, 2014, at 12:45 p.m., an unknown male (suspect #1) approached a 71-year-old man (victim) in the parking lot of the Home Depot, located at 7530 Broadway in Lemon Grove. The suspect befriended the elderly man and asked the victim to drive him to meet suspect #2 at the Walgreens, located, 7195 Broadway in Lemon Grove.
Once at Walgreens, the suspects convinced the elderly man to donate money to their “charity”. The elderly man drove the suspects to the Wells Fargo Bank, located 7090 Broadway in Lemon Grove, where suspect #2 pretended to withdraw $30,000 for charity and persuaded the elderly man to do the same.
The man withdrew $10,000 and gave it to the suspects. The suspects told the victim to wait in his truck and then fled the area.
Suspect #1 is described as a black male adult, between 45-50 years-old. He is about 5’7” tall and weighs about 180 lbs. He has short black and grayhair with brown eyes, medium brown complexion and a medium build. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve blue striped shirt, light blue dress pants and black shoes. He was carrying a black shoulder bag.
Suspect #2 is described as a black male adult, between 45-50 years-old. He is 6’3” tall and weighs about 200-210 lbs. He has black hair in a military style cut, brown eyes, light brown complexion and a thin build. He was last seen wearing a long sleeve brown sweater, dark brown pants and black shoes. He was carrying a black portfolio case. Suspect #2 was captured by surveillance cameras; images of the suspect are pictured above.
