San Marcos CA- The bicyclist who was killed in collision with a cement truck in San Marcos on Thursday, April 10, has been identified as 22 year-old Zhiyuan Jiang. Jiang’s place of residence is currently unknown.
The Sheriff’s Communication center received a call of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Las Posas Road in the city of San Marcos. The preliminary investigation revealed the following information.
A white cement truck driven by a 47 year old male was heading northbound on S. Las Posas Road in the number 3 lane. As per witnesses, the truck stopped at the red light for a few seconds before making a right turn onto eastbound Grand Avenue. As the cement truck entered the intersection, a 22 year old male who was riding a bicycle northbound on S. Las Posas Road also entered the intersection.
Witnesses stated the bicyclist, who wasn’t wearing a helmet, may have entered the intersection against the red light and was struck by the truck, which caused the bicyclist to be knocked to the ground where the rear wheels of the cement truck may have run over the bicyclist. The bicyclist succumbed to his injuries of blunt force chest trauma, at the scene.
Highway 78 Single Car Rollover Crash
The woman killed in a single car crash on Highway 78 on April 13 has been identified as 21 year-old, Lynn Jill Nguyen, a Vietnamese female who resided in Escondido.
Early Sunday morning, Nguyen was traveling westbound on SR 78, west of San Marcos Blvd., when she lost control of her silver Acura sedan. The vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a tree, and rolled. Nguyen was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. Her death was pronounced by paramedics without medical intervention.
