Oceanside CA- On Monday, April 28, Phase 4 construction of the Mission Avenue Improvement Project is set to begin from Ditmar to Coast Highway. Phase 3 construction will continue on the south-side (formerly east-bound lanes) stretch of Mission Ave. Temporary traffic control will continue to be in place from Horne to Coast Highway. Clementine will be closed from Seagaze to Mission. Nevada, Ditmar and Freeman intersections will be closed. Nevada, Ditmar and Freeman will be open on the north side of Mission.
Deliveries, parking and access will be available through Pier View Way on the North side of Mission and through Seagaze on the South side of Mission. Signage will be placed along Mission Avenue directing patrons to use side streets for parking. Completion for Mission Avenue Phase 3 construction is expected by end of May and completion for Phase 4 construction is expected by end of June.

This project began in April of 2009, when the City’s Redevelopment Agency started the process to enhance the gateway into Downtown Oceanside.Construction on Mission Avenue between Horne Street and Coast Highway began October 24, 2013, with a scheduled end early summer 2014. The project will convert Mission Avenue, a four lane two-way street to a two lane, one-way westbound street. Seagaze Drive, one block south of Mission Avenue, will be converted to a one-way eastbound route, creating a one-way couplet system in the Downtown area. Other project components include widened sidewalks, new landscaping, new street lighting, and enhanced pedestrian and bicycle facilities.
