Oceanside CA- A 26 foot commercial box truck rolled on its side on the southbound I-5 to Oceanside Blvd off ramp, a little before 11:00AM. The incident prompted the closure of the the ramp for several hours while crews off-loaded the overturned truck and righted the vehicle.
The Truck, a 2002 International owned by Kendal Trucking, in Los Angeles, was traveling south on Interstate 5 and exited the freeway at the Oceanside Boulevard off-ramp. The driver said he hit the brakes and lost control of the vehicle. The truck, carrying medical supplies, flipped on to its right side, slid approximately 30 feet down the ice plant covered embankment coming to rest on some eucalyptus trees. The driver , a 46 year old male from Los Angeles, was unhurt in the accident and the ramp was reopened at 2:14PM. The cause of the accident is under investigation but Officer Jim Bettencourt with the CHP believes speed may have been a contributing factor.
