On August 23, delegates from Fuji, including Mayor Konagai, visited Oceanside. The 13 hour plane ride from Tokyo to San Diego was smooth. It gave us time to relax, watch three movies and watch the excitement grow for those people who were on their first journey to California.
Escaping from the humidity and heat of Japan summer season, California’s blue sky and white sand beach was welcome. After our arrival, we stopped by at California Welcome Center, Visit Oceanside.
Like many other tourists visiting Oceanside, we were busy gathering town brochures and collecting sightseeing information from our hosts, Leslee and Dana from Visit Oceanside.
Fuji city promotion booth at the Welcome Center also provides free post-card of Mt. Fuji and information about Fuji.
That night, we met with Oceanside friendship partners, our friends for last twenty five years, and were able to exchange our greetings.
There were many changes in both cities but I’m sure that what moved the world is our friendship and I’m excited that I’m now a part of the team.
