Oceanside CA— The MiraCosta College Horticulture Program is hosting a Future Farmers’ of America(FFA) Competition for Southern Region high schools on Friday, February 24 in the Horticulture Complex, Bldg. 7000 and surrounding area, on the Oceanside Campus, located, 1 Barnard Drive.
That week happens to be National FFA Week, so it is expected there will be approximately 153 students and their advisers; industry professionals and local horticulture community volunteers; MiraCosta College student volunteers and staff; for a total of about 200 participants.
The high school students will compete in one of three contests, including: Vegetable Crop Judging, Nursery/Landscape, and Floral. Participant check-in will begin at 7 a.m., contests begin at 8 a.m. and continue until finished at approximately 12 p.m. An awards ceremony will be held to celebrate the students’ accomplishments and National FFA Week, which will be held at about 12:30 p.m.
