Carlsbad CA— MiraCosta College’s Community Education Program is offering the following non-credit courses this spring:
Lean Manufacturing I: Lean Manufacturing is the systematic method for eliminating waste within a manufacturing system. This initial course will consist of 5S, 8 wastes, deep observation, value stream mapping, A3 one-page corrective action reports, and Kaizen events. This course provides practical application of LEAN tools that anyone can use to identify and minimize waste in their own area of control. This two-day class is offered on four different weekends, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., 1/23 & 1/24, 2/27 & 2/28, 4/23 & 4/24 or 5/21 & 5/22 at the Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. Fee is $150.
Lean Manufacturing II: This second-level course will consist of a refresher of LEAN I and practical applications of standard work, ‘takt’ time, balancing work. In addition, there will be an overview of error proofing, job instruction, improving job methods, and building a LEAN team. This course is appropriate for supervisors, team lead and managers who are interested in implementing change within their work environment. Class is offered twice, Saturdays & Sundays, 9 a.m.–4 p.m., either 3/12 & 3/13, or 6/25 & 6/26 at the Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. Fee is $150.
