My dad, and OHS class of ’70 grad, sent me this poem from a snowy Kansas City. Thought it might be appreciated by your readers.

Oceanside
The sun sets softly over the north jetty
Reflecting an evening light on an outside break
You stop and sigh at the beauty
Feeling a tingle from your toes to your neck
The ocean beckons, salty, wispy calling
The waves slap out your name,
You remember the sanity and calm of the sea
As your spirit and soul long for the same.
The waves at the pier and the harbor
With memories of the shore break at buccaneer
Slowly, silently pulling you along
It all takes you back to your younger years
You think about those crazy days
The days when vast and wild dreams were pondered
It calls you back with mixed emotions
A time when soaking in the sun was all that really mattered
The ocean beckons, salty, wispy calling
The waves slap out your name,
You remember the sanity and calm of the sea
As your spirit and soul long for the same.
