Large-scale food distribution in San Marcos to help kids and families facing hunger
San Marcos CA— This Saturday, May 15, Feeding San Diego and the SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM Foundation will come together to help the local community. In preparation for the virtual SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM event happening next month, a few SWITCHFOOT band members, plus more than 30 BRO-AM volunteers, will be volunteering at Feeding San Diego’s free food distribution happening at California State University San Marcos.
The large-scale distribution is part of Feeding San Diego’s Together Tour, a series of large-scale food distributions held throughout San Diego County to address the increased need for food assistance caused by the pandemic.
The SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM Foundation has supported Feeding San Diego for many years and has selected them as one of five local beneficiaries of its 2021 BRO-AM live stream event taking place on Saturday, June 19. The annual event combines music and community to help local kids who need a hand up.
“There are so many hardships for members of our community right now, especially kids,” said Tim Foreman, bassist of SWITCHFOOT. “We’re stoked to be able to volunteer at this distribution to meet some of the people who have been affected by the pandemic and will continue to advocate for the work Feeding San Diego is doing at our SWITCHFOOT BRO-AM next month.”
What: Drive-through distribution where volunteers place approximately 50 pounds of food, including dry goods, produce and a frozen meat protein, directly in the trunk. Another BRO-AM Partner, Suja Juice, will also participate by handing out over 2,500 bottles of its organic, cold-pressed juice to food recipients at this event. All attendees are asked to wear a mask. Link to register is here.
