SoCal Passenger Train Service Unveils Personal Impact Calculator; New Riders Get Free Round-Trip Ticket in their Mobile App Wallet
Los Angeles CA— To help advance a healthier Southern California in recognition of Clean Air Day on October 7, Metrolink is encouraging residents to sign the Clean Air Pledge and #TakeTheTrain. Metrolink also revealed a Personal Impact Calculator at metrolinktrains.com/experience so people can see the difference they make to the environment when they leave their car behind and take the train instead. As an added incentive, new riders who download the Metrolink Mobile App and register their new account will be rewarded with a free ticket in the mobile app wallet, which they can use anytime through May 31, 2021.
“Together, we can make an impact for a healthier, cleaner Southern California, and each of us can do our part,” said Metrolink Board Chair Brian Humphrey. “By taking Metrolink and other forms of public transportation instead of driving, you are reducing traffic and congestion on the roads and helping to reduce greenhouse gases that would otherwise contribute to Southern California’s poor air quality. We invite Southern Californians to sign up for the #TakeTheTrain pledge and to calculate their personal impact with our entertaining, interactive online tool.”
Metrolink is an easy and accessible way for families, couples, and individuals to travel, with its spacious double-decker trains and sizeable windows which offer views of beautiful SoCal scenery — including mountains, the ocean, and city views that travelers can often miss while sitting in freeway traffic. On-board amenities include a variety of seating configurations – including face-to-face seating and tables perfect for groups – and a restroom and two hand sanitizer stations on each passenger car.
Plus, there’s a bike car on every train, so riders can load up their bicycles and bike to their final destinations. Bike cars can also accommodate surfboards, bulky carry-on items such as chairs, beach and picnic gear, strollers and wagons, and everything adventurers may need for a fun day out exploring. Metrolink has implemented enhanced cleaning and disinfecting protocols, which include a daily deep cleaning of the trains, and a Clean Care Crew that wipes and disinfects trains throughout the day and uses an electrostatic sprayer to mist hospital-grade disinfectant on all train cars – including hard-to-reach places. Face masks are required on Metrolink platforms and trains, and riders can be assured there’s plenty of space for social distancing by using the online tool How Full is My Train?
