Washington DC— Oceanside High School graduate Dereck T. Miller-Romero has been named 2019 Outstanding Cyber Operations Airman of the Year, United States Air Forces in Europe. Dereck is with the 31st Communications Squadron.
A letter accompanying the award from the Office of the Secretary of the Air Force stated in part “This outstanding achievement places you at the top of your peer group and recognizes your superior performance, expertise and dedication to our Air Force Mission. Our strength depends on professionals like you to ensure we fly, fight and win in air, space and cyberspace. Take pride in this well deserved honor.”
His father, Thomas Romero, is a life-long resident of Oceanside.

Laramie WY— Congratulations to the local students attending the University of Wyoming who made the academic Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls for the 2019 fall semester.
The honor rolls consist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade-point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average.
To be eligible, students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken for letter grades.
