San Diego CA—Home Start, Inc., a San Diego nonprofit organization whose mission is to assure the safety and resiliency of children by strengthening families and their communities, has received a $50,000 grant from the Cushman Foundation. The grant, part of the Foundation’s 2019 Making a Difference for San Diego awards program, will help Home Start launch a new candle-making social enterprise, provide housing for homeless families, and equip those seeking a job to become employed.
The Foundation’s Making a Difference for San Diego Grant Program was established in partnership with the Jewish Community Foundation, as they share the goals of respectful and responsive grantmaking, quality technical assistance, and support to strengthen the capacity and sustainability of nonprofit organizations.
“We’re excited that the Cushman Foundation has honored us with this donation,” said Laura Tancredi-Baese, CEO of Home Start. “The award will truly advance Home Start’s ability to provide services to children living in poverty who require immediate, comprehensive solutions to ensure their safety and healthy development.”
