Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) received $5,250 in grant funding from David C. Copley Foundation to support enriching programming in their new Center for Innovation.
BGCO recently finished construction on their new Center for Innovation, a 2,800 square foot addition, which includes a Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen, a Performing Arts Center and a STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Math) Lab. Grant funds will be used to support new and innovative programming in this fabulous space.
BGCO’s Center for Innovation is a place where youth receive hands-on, experiential learning opportunities, allowing them to explore their passions and future career paths.
The Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen provides a space for youth to learn basic cooking skills and the importance of eating a healthy, balanced diet. It also allows BGCO to serve healthy meals to at-risk youth, prepared by teen members.
The Performing Arts Center provides a dedicated space for youth to engage in music, drama and dance programs and will include audio visual, lighting and stage production skills.
The STREAM Lab is an interactive facility where youth can conduct experiments, explore their interests in science, and learn about the variety of careers in the science and technology industries.
BGCO is committed to ensuring all youth have the support and resources they need to make it to the academic finish line, graduating from high school with a plan for the future. The Center of Innovation provides youth with the opportunity they deserve to experience high quality programming in a state-of-the-art setting.
“This generous grant funding will allow us to provide our youth with a kaleidoscope of opportunities. We are so grateful for community partners like the Copley Foundation who share our commitment to improving educational opportunities and outcomes for youth in our community,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
