San Diego’s Little Italy will jumpstart the holiday season with a magical evening filled with fun holiday festivities for the whole community
San Diego CA— The Little Italy Association (LIA) will kick-off the holiday season with an evening of holiday magic at its 20th annual Little Italy Tree Lighting and Christmas Village on Saturday, December 1, from 4-8 p.m. Family, friends and neighbors are invited to experience the holiday joy at the family-friendly event and enjoy the neighborhood’s festive décor—including two Christmas trees, seasonal vendors, live music and entertainment, horse carriage rides, holiday treats, tree lighting, a visit from Santa and more!
“We are so excited to celebrate 20 years of bringing holiday cheer to the San Diego community,” said Chris Gomez, Little Italy Association’s district manager. “We look forward to spreading more holiday magic this year and transforming our beloved neighborhood into a winter wonderland for all to enjoy!”
Santa will make a visit to Little Italy during the event to chat and take photos with little ones starting at 4 p.m. Kids can stop by “Santa’s Living Room” on India Street to share their Christmas wishes with Santa until 6 p.m. They will also be able to participate in fun arts and crafts right next to “Santa’s Living Room.” The community can stroll through the Christmas Village, located on India Street between W. Cedar and W. Grape Streets, to pick-up stocking stuffers and other holiday goodies from seasonal vendors and select Little Italy Mercato vendors.
The Little Italy neighborhood will transform into a winter wonderland with Christmas twinkle lights down all the streets, 10-foot tall nutcrackers on street corners, Christmas carolers and more. The neighborhood will also feature two Christmas trees this year—a 25-foot tower of more than 1,100 beautiful Poinsettias, located in the center of Piazza Basilone and a permanent 20-foot tall live tree in the Piazza della Famiglia. The community is invited to head to the Piazza della Famiglia to light the tree at 6:30 p.m. The Poinsettia tree at the Piazza Basilone will be lit-up the whole evening—sparkling like the Eiffel Tower.
