Proceeds from event will protect water quality and ecosystem health in San Diego County
San Diego County CA— On September 12, San Diego Coastkeeper hosts its annual Seaside Soiree to celebrate clean water, a vibrant environment, and the community that makes it all possible. The event will mark the organization’s 23rd year of defending clean water for the communities and natural resources that depend on it, and will raise critical funds to support Coastkeeper’s important programs and projects.
Taking place at the beautiful Bali Hai Restaurant on Shelter Island, guests of the Seaside Soiree will raise a glass to clean water while enjoying a front row, sunset view of San Diego Bay and the city skyline. A VIP reception will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., with the general admission portion of the Seaside Soiree immediately following from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The event promises a roaming buffet, cash bar, educational displays, some friendly competition in the form of a silent auction, and of course, the Bali Hai’s world famous mai tais.
“We are excited to share the past year’s clean water successes and highlight the impact of Coastkeeper’s vital work in our region,” says San Diego Coastkeeper Executive Director Matt O’Malley.
The evening’s keynote address will be delivered by Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez Fletcher, a longtime ally of Coastkeeper and a staunch protector of environmental, coastal, and community health. Assemblywoman Gonzalez Fletcher has most recently championed legislation to help ensure the marine protected areas Coastkeeper was instrumental in helping establish will better protect the marine life that depend on these critical habitats.
The Seaside Soiree is supported by San Diego County Regional Airport Authority, Port of San Diego, KPBS, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, DeLano and DeLano, EDCO, BAE Systems, Sportfishing Association of California, Tosdal Law Firm, NextGen America, The Barbara Bry and Neil Senturia Fund of the Jewish Community Foundation, Collaborative Land Use Solutions, and Bob Nelson, with a special thanks to Coast Law Group and Sun Harbor Marina. Sponsorship opportunities are still available.
Tickets can be purchased from San Diego Coastkeeper’s website. VIP Tickets are $250 and include a pre-event reception, drink tickets, and opportunities to take a spin on Coastkeeper’s boat, Clean Sweep. General admission tickets are $100.
