San Diego CA— The National Guard has named the USO San Diego Downtown Center as the recipient of its 2017 Volunteer Award. The award recognizes outstanding volunteers and a community organization for its valuable contributions to the National Guard. Specifically, The USO San Diego Downtown Center received the “Family Program Community Purple Award,” which is presented to an organization that best exemplifies the true meeting of the “purple” concept by working with both the Army and/or Air Guard activities. The award was presented to the USO San Diego Downtown Center on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
“We’re deeply honored that the National Guard has recognized USO San Diego for the wonderful volunteers who bless our programs,” said Ashley Camac, Director of the USO San Diego Downtown Center. “Our USO San Diego team served more than 260,000 military members and their families last year alone at our award-winning Neil Ash USO Airport Center and our downtown San Diego facility. It’s the volunteers, working shoulder-to-shoulder with our dedicated staff, which makes this happen.”
Since 1941, USO San Diego has been serving active-duty, reserve, guard and military families. USO San Diego strengthens America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. USO San Diego is a premier USO Chartered Center.
