Encinitas CA— Scott Kling, San Dieguito High School Academy Varsity Water Polo Coach, is launching his own water polo club, Moonlight Beach Water Polo Club! He’s kicking off the season with a fundraiser at Encinitas Oggi’s Pizza, 305 Encinitas Blvd., March 13 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The community is invited to join in and support the team. Visit the team Twitter account @MB_WPC to print out the fundraiser flyer. Hand the server the flyer, and Oggi’s Pizza will donate 15 percent of the proceeds to the team.
Moonlight Beach Water Polo Club’s inaugural spring season takes place March 12 to May 27, 2018. Coach Kling welcomes boys 14 to 18 years old in North County to join. Practices will be held at Alga Norte Aquatics in Carlsbad on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:45 pm to 9:15 pm.
The teams will consist of 16-under and 18-under boys. Both teams will participate in single day games, as well as compete in tournaments with an eye on qualifying for the prestigious Junior Olympics held in July.
“We founded Moonlight Beach Water Polo Club on the same three pillars that have supported the high school program: Family, Academics and Hard Work,” said Coach Scott. “We plan to help young players improve their water polo skills through rigorous and consistent hard work, while still maintaining a full and healthy lifestyle outside the pool.”
Coach Kling is a seasoned veteran with over 12 years of water polo coaching experience. He has been coaching at San Dieguito High School Academy for six years. In his fourth year of coaching, he led the team to the Division 3 CIF Championships. One year later, the team made history by defeating crosstown rivals La Costa Canyon High School.
