Oceanside CA— Club of Ocean Hills on Wednesday, January 17th, to meet Oceanside City Councilmember, the Honorable Jerry Kern! Councilmember Kern will address, “The Decommissioning of San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station,” the City of Oceanside Mayor’s position, and Kern’s 2018 candidacy for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, District 5.
Re-elected to his third term in 2014, Kern is honored to serve the citizens of Oceanside and sincerely values the trust and confidence given to him by the people. He is proud of his record and many accomplishments while serving on the City Council and hopes to continue to be a voice for the community at large. Jerry is a veteran, having served in the United States Air Force. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from San Diego State University, and a teaching credential from Chapman University.
Councilmember Kern and his wife, Blake, are native Californians who have lived in Oceanside since 1975. They have two adult children and two grandchildren. Jerry and Blake were co-founders of Pacific View Charter School, the first charter school to be approved in Oceanside, where they also taught for many years. Since arriving in the city, Kern has also been very involved in the community. He served as President of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce, and on a variety of boards, commissions, and committees, including the San Diego County Water Authority. He currently serves on the Community Engagement Panel for the decommissioning of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS) that is working toward removing the remaining nuclear fuel from the site.
The Republican Club of Ocean Hills (RCOH) believes in Republican values: individual responsibility, personal freedoms, limited government, a market economy, low taxes, and a strong national defense. RCOH meets the third Wednesday of each month at the Broken Yolk Café, 2434 Vista Way, Oceanside CA. The Meet and Greet, and the optional lunch purchased individually from the restaurant menu, is from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m.
