Encinitas CA— Over the years, Rady Children’s Hospital has positively impacted the hopes and lives of many children and their families confronting serious, life-threatening illnesses. Travis Selinka, now a freshman at San Dieguito Academy, developed brain cancer when he was 10-years-old. Thanks to the supportive community at Rady’s, Travis is able to live the life of the vibrant person he is today. “Travis the Warrior” and his family have been giving back for years, and would like to continue through Travis’ collaboration with his classmates to share his journey, and host a fundraiser to help Rady’s continue its mission.
To support Travis, and to help give back to Rady’s, the students of the SDA Community Performing Arts Club are organizing a fundraising event on December 7th, 7:00pm at the Clayton E. Liggett Theater, 800 Santa Fe in Encinitas The students and Travis will be hosting an evening of singing, dancing, specialty acts, guest speakers, and more! Called “A Whimsical Winter”, 100% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Rady Children’s Hospital Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders. We will also be selling food, raffle tickets, silent auction items, and comfort kits for patients at Rady’s.
Funds will be allocated to helping children with cancer and blood disorders get the care they need. Thanks to medical advances, the majority of childhood cancer patients treated at Rady Children’s Peckham Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders have an excellent prognosis. They now cure more than 80% of all pediatric cancer patients. By attending this event, you can make a difference in a child’s life.
We are thankful for the support of the students at SDA, the Selinka family, and our community for this wonderful cause. Let’s have a Whimsical Winter together!
