Making Miracles Gala benefits ECS programs that address mental health, child development, substance use disorders, and homelessness in San Diego

San Diego CA— Episcopal Community Services’ (ECS) first Hybrid Making Miracles Gala, held on Saturday, April 10, 2021, raised $175,000 to support essential services and programs. The signature event was co-chaired by Marie Tuthill, Kathy Fremdling, and Leta Keyes, and was sponsored by Marsh and McClennan, The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, The Huck Family, The Society of St. Paul, Hecht Solbert, and Winfield Development.
“We’re delighted and honored by the generosity of our community,” said Elizabeth Fitzsimons, Chief Executive Officer of ECS. “We sincerely appreciate the hard work and passion of our co-chairs, Marie, Kathy, and Leta, and all those at ECS who helped make this evening so successful.”
As a hybrid event, ECS welcomed guests simultaneously at the Coasterra restaurant on San Diego Bay and online via a livestreaming video. The organization was able to reach more supporters by keeping the virtual attendance option available. At the restaurant, guests arrived dressed in outfits reminiscent of the 1930s and 1940s to match the theme of Old Hollywood. It was proudly noted that this was the first in-person gala to take place since the COVID-19 pandemic began.
The evening featured an online auction, entertainment by The Lamb’s Players Theater, giveaways, and a heartfelt program. Guests were immersed in the mission and vision of ECS, to grow and change lives through programs that inspire children, empower adults, and transform our community.
