Autumn of Abundance Gala set for November 15th
Oceanside CA— The North County LGBTQ Resource Center (Center) is set to stream their free virtual gala, Autumn of Abundance, on November 15, 2020 from 2:00-3:00pm. Drag Race Superstar, Chad Michaels will be hosting the event with special guest appearances from actresses Ellen Page and Marin Ireland (currently playing on screen partners in The Umbrella Academy), Ally Sheedy and her out trans son Beckett Landbury, and other fabulous celebrities to be announced soon. The Center hopes to raise money to keep its essential services running throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which include support groups for youth, seniors, military service members, HIV/AIDS testing and prevention, counseling, civil rights advocacy, classes, and workgroups.
“Many people have been trapped in their homes since March—some without supportive households—which has made shifting our programs to a virtual format even more important, ” shared Max Disposti, Founder and Executive Director of the Center, “Despite the financial struggle of the pandemic, we are proud to say we’ve been able to expand the reach of our programs.”
The Autumn of Abundance event will kick off at 2:00pm. The livestream program will be a celebration of the Center’s mission and feature musical performances, online items for purchase and other opportunities for you to support North County’s LGBTQ community directly.
“When COVID-19 hit, me and my wife called Max,” said past center client Sally, “within weeks, the Center helped us to find an apartment and they were instrumental in helping us with move-in costs. Additionally, they connected us to healthy food more than once. Without the North County LGBTQ Center, we would still be homeless.”
The North County LGBTQ Resource Center has been doing life-saving work for the LGBTQ community in San Diego for 9-years. Their Unicorn Homes program provides housing to homeless LGBTQ youth- young people who are often kicked out of their homes simply for being honest about who they are. They are also working tirelessly to prevent Human Trafficking and to save LGBTQ individuals exploited through labor, sex, and commerce. Their LGBTQ competency programs help to create safer environments for LGBTQ employees and patients. The Center needs your support now more than ever.
