San Diego CA— Second Chance received a $100,000 grant to provide emergency support for formerly incarcerated individuals in need of food, housing, virtual case management, and wrap-around services from the COVID-19 Community Response Fund at The San Diego Foundation.
Food insecurity, access to hygiene items, and other basic needs are issues Second Chance
readily addresses when assisting those coming out of incarceration. The recent changes from COVID-19 has caused an unprecedented number of layoffs and furloughs, having a devastating impact on those who were already struggling with basic needs. The grant from the San Diego Foundation will provide critical basic needs such as food, shelter, and general support to ensure this often forgotten population gets safely through this crisis.
Robert Coleman, President and CEO of Second Chance shares, “We would like to thank The San Diego Foundation and its many donors for their support of Second Chance during this crisis. This grant will safeguard services and provide basic necessities for struggling justice-involved San Diegans as they continue on their journey to self-sufficiency.”
