Pala CA— Pala Casino Spa & Resort presented Susan G Komen ® San Diego with a $13,800 check, totaling the amount raised during the October Pala Cares charity slot tournament. More than 345 guests participated in the tournament. All entry fees were matched by Pala Casino and included in the charity donation.
Susan G. Komen ® is the global leader of the breast cancer movement, having invested more than $1 billion in breast cancer research since its inception in 1982. Susan G. Komen ® San Diego’s mission is to save lives by meeting the most critical needs in San Diego County and investing in breakthrough research to prevent and cure breast cancer.
“We thank all of our guests who participated in this inaugural slot tournament and made this generous donation possible,” said Coley McAvoy, Advertising Manager for Pala Casino. “Being able to partner with a charity whose work positively impacts so many in our community is an honor.”
“Thanks to corporate partners like Pala Casino we are able provide free local services and support to those affected by breast cancer in San Diego County,” said Shaina Gross, president and CEO, Susan G Komen ® San Diego. “Pala’s fundraising is equivalent to providing almost 100 mammograms to women in need, or emergency financial aid for rent for 15 women, or groceries during treatment for over 50 women. That is remarkable and we are so grateful.”
Each month, Pala Casino Spa & Resort will host a charity slot tournament that falls under its community outreach initiative, Pala Cares. Each tournament will benefit a deserving charity. All guest paid entry fees will be matched by Pala Casino, with all proceeds benefitting the partnering charity.
The slot tournament entry fee of $20 provides $25 in free play to each entrant. In addition, tournament players will have a chance to win a share of $20,000 in Added Play prizes, including the top amount of $10,000 added play.
