Encinitas CA— The San Dieguito High School Academy Water Polo Club in partnership with the Leucadia 101 Main Street Association collected 32 pounds of shelf stable macaroni and cheese benefiting Got Your Back San Diego. The boxed food drive kicked off May 5 at the Leucadia 101 Battle of the Bands and ran through May 19.
The Leucadia 101 Main Street Office hosted a donation collection box along with some of its business members: Seaweed & Gravel, Bing Surfboards, Corner Frame Shop & Leucadia Art Gallery, and Fully Loaded Micro Juicery.
Got Your Back San Diego is a weekend food assistance program developed specifically for children who do not have reliable access to a sufficient amount of affordable, nutritious food. They fill backpacks with two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners, and a few healthy snacks, enough food to sustain a child throughout the weekend. Backpacks are given to children at school to take home for the weekend.
