San Diego County CA— Promises2Kids honored volunteers at the organization’s annual Volunteer Appreciation Event. Promises2Kids staff and volunteers gathered at the Bali Hai Restaurant on April 29th to recognize and honor dedicated volunteers who have committed their time and attention to creating a brighter future for foster children in San Diego. Guests mingled while enjoying drinks and heavy appetizers.
The event recognized volunteers for their support of the Guardian Scholars program, Camp Connect, shopping events, as well as the organization’s Dream On Concert Gala and FORE KIDS Golf Tournament.
“Promises2Kids depends on volunteers every day,” said Tonya Torosian, CEO of Promises2Kids. “The youth going through our Guardian Scholars program not only receive financial scholarship, they also receive hours of support and guidance from dedicated mentors, to help keep them on track with their educational goals.”
Four Promises2Kids volunteers were presented with awards for their support for Promises2Kids in the 2018-2019 year.
This year’s honorees include:
- Brenda Ferro for Impact Award
- Kelly Smith for Outstanding Mentor
- Joanie Marcus for Outstanding Mentor
- Jean Hoeger for Rookie of the Year
“I am so honored to have received recognition as Outstanding Mentor at this year’s event,” said Joanie Marcus. “I have thoroughly enjoyed being a Mentor in the Guardian Scholars program these past two years. It’s been so rewarding to witness the blossoming and success of my mentee.”
