Teen Class, Mixed Media: Faces!
Teens will explore mixed media including acrylic, oil, wax pastel as well a collage and poetic verses … and who knows what else! Instructed by young artists Bruce Carrion, who taught at Art Adventures and Mira Costa College, it’s guaranteed to be an innovative and creative time!

Paint your own acrylic on canvas masterpiece with Margaret Chiaro! All supplies and step-by-step instruction included. Feel free to bring beer, wine and/or food for yourself or to share!

April 11: Abstract Expressionism in Art
Artist Examples: Jackson Pollock and Joan Mitchell
Art Project: After looking at works by Pollock, Frankenthaler, de Kooning, Kandinsky and other abstract expressionist artists, students will begin using pencil on paper to explore random lines and shapes in art using music as a backdrop. Students will then be able to create their own abstract expressionist painting. They can use the drip painting technique of Jackson Pollock technique or more floor painting in the style of Helen Frankenthaler. No paint throwing!

April 18: Cubism and Self-Portraiture
Artist Examples: Pablo Picasso, Natalya Goncharova
Art Project: Students will begin looking at cubist art examples and how cubist art came into being. After practicing, students will then create their own cubist portraits using oil pastels on canvas. Students will be encouraged to think about and create a duality in their portraiture, whether through color or emotion, as a way to explore the yin and yang in nature.

April 25: Printmaking
Artist Examples: Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige
Art Project: Students will explore printmaking through the works of Japanese print artists and see for themselves how these works influenced modern art. Then students will work through the print process to create their own unique piece.

Spring Into Art! ~ Adult Art Workshop

New! Live Model Drawing Class
Have you been wanting to draw from a live model? Now you can!
Join us on the second and fourth Saturday’s at Studio ACE for a three-hour session. We welcome beginning and advanced artists. Working with a live nude model, we will start with quick gestures and progress to longer poses while drawing with charcoal on paper. We have 6 easels available on a first-come first-serve basis. We have plenty of tables and chairs.
Dates & Times: 2nd & 4th Saturdays of the month, 1:00 – 4:00 pm
Fee: Special! $10 per session for April and May ($8 military), then $15 beginning in June, ($12 military)

Kene Lohmann invites you into his world of colorful landscapes and will help you create your own visual escape through the world of watercolor. All levels of artists, especially beginners are welcome!
Dates and Times: Continuous Monday’s 6:30-8:30pm and Friday’s 10:30am-12:30pm
Fee: $20 for first class includes all supplies. After that, cost is $20 plus $5 for supplies or bring your own. Supply list is on the website.
