San Diego CA— On Wednesday, February 13th, program clients from McAlister Institute’s Group Home East, a short-term residential treatment program for teens, funded by the County of San Diego, Health & Human Services Agency, distributed Valentine’s Day cards to homeless individuals at the First Presbyterian Church on Date Street in San Diego. The distribution was an anonymous act of service, human kindness, and an expression of compassion for others.
Approximately 100 clients countywide in McAlister Institute’s Expressive Arts Therapy groups created 150 Valentine’s Day cards with a recovery message, as an artistic project based on self- compassion and compassion for others. The cards were collected and brought to the church where McAlister Institute’s Group Home program youth served each homeless individual a card and a meal.
