Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) received $9,923 from Legacy Endowment Community Foundation to purchase supplies and equipment needed to enrich BGCO’s Real Options for Adults with Disabilities (R.O.A.D.’s) Program.
Through its enriching and engaging programs, R.O.A.D.’s provides opportunities for adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Since its launching in 2012, R.O.A.D.’s has impacted more than 60 members with the help of a strong partnership with the San Diego Regional Center and grant support from Legacy Endowment Community Foundation.
Through the program, members develop self-advocacy and decision-making readiness while participating in educational, social and life skill activities. Funding from Legacy Endowment will allow R.O.A.D.’s members to go on a variety of field trips such as driving go-karts at K1 Speed, volunteering at the local Senior Center, budgeting at the grocery store, or adventuring around Legoland. It will also help support their performing arts program and provide costuming, audio and visual equipment, and set design.
“We are so grateful for support from Legacy Endowment,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO. “This funding ensures that we are able to provide high impact programming and opportunities for our R.O.A.D.’s members. It gives them the freedom to explore, grow, and reach their fullest potential.”
