Escondido CA— Twelve young women are set to compete for the titles of Miss Teen Fil-Am and Miss Fil-Am tonight during a sold-out Coronation Night Pageant at the California Center for the Performing Arts, Escondido.
The event is one of many put on by Filipino Cultural Organization (FACO). “For years, we here at FACO have been staunch supporters of education. We lift up our younger generation by contributing to the Oceanside Public Library and offering annual scholarship programs to Filipino-American students here in the USA as well as in the Philippines,” said Rein Hanson, President of FACO. The 501C3 organization has been in existence for forty years.
Last week, the contestants participated in the talent and swimsuit competition at Grand Pacific Palisades Resort and Hotel in Carlsbad. The two events will not have any bearing on the judging taking place tonight but the winners of those events will be will be announced at the coronation ceremony.
The twelve finalist, six for Miss Teen Fil-Am and six for Miss Fil-Am, will be competing for cash prizes, trophies, modeling with fashion designer, Kenneth Barlis and will represent California in the Bb Pilipinas of the World pageant in Toronto Canada on November 18, 2017.
Along with the winners a Miss FilAm, 1st runner up, 2nd runner up and Miss Teen FilAm, 1st runner up, 2nd runner up will be chosen.
