San Diego County CA— Kalal brings more than 20 years of experience in philanthropic development to the 97-year-old nonprofit, with expertise in areas such as major sponsorship acquisition, donor cultivation, board development and strategic planning. Her role in United Way will include growing major gifts, leadership giving, donor engagement, and dynamic donor recruitment and retention.

In her recent position as the director of women’s philanthropy for the Jewish Federation of San Diego County, Kalal was responsible for growing philanthropy and meaningful engagement with the Federation’s female donors, with an emphasis on major gift and mid-level donors. She also increased the Federation’s membership, portfolio and fundraising efforts.
During her time with the San Diego Opera, she raised over $26 million. As the director of development for major sponsorships and director of institutional giving, Kalal was instrumental in building a model fundraising program for the Opera that secured five- and six-figure grants from various local and national organizations.
Kalal received her undergraduate degree from New York University and resides in Tierrasanta with her husband and three teenage children.
