Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside received a full spring cleaning and renovation during North Coast Church’s Bi-Annual Weekend of Service.
More than a hundred volunteers gathered from North Coast Church for their Bi-Annual Weekend of Service to renovate, beautify and improve the Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside’s Townsite Clubhouse.
Volunteers gave the Clubhouse a much appreciated spring makeover both inside and out. They helped to demo a non-operational heater which allowed for a more functional and organized storage area. BGCO’s gymnasium was painted, the gym closet was organized and extra storage space was enhanced. Even sticky gum floors were scraped clean by helping hands!
The Club’s Teen Center was renovated head-to-toe with fresh paint, new flooring and an updated electrical system. Volunteers also assembled an air hockey table for afterschool entertainment. Behind the Teen Center, NCC volunteers built flowerbeds and assembled a greenhouse that will give Club members gardening opportunities and experience harvesting their own produce.
The outside of the Clubhouse received its fair share of beautification as well. Picnic tables were painted and sun-shades were reinstalled, in preparation for outdoor lunches and activities in the San Diego summertime. The wooden benches in front of the Club were stained and landscapes were freshly weeded and replanted.
“The generosity and giving spirit of the members of North Coast Church is truly remarkable. They volunteer long hours during the weekend of service so that our youth have a beautiful Club to attend,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
BCGO is currently gearing up for summer programming and the weekend volunteer work will help kick the summer off to a great start!
