Oceanside CA— On Friday, April 14, 2017, at approximately 7:30pm Mayra had just got out of her car, parked on Pacific St., near Oceanside Blvd. and was going inside her house when a blue van with white stripes hit her car. “I was lucky I was not in the car, had it been 30-45 seconds sooner, he would have hit me too.” Mayra had just moved to Oceanside, from Los Angeles, on April 8. “Some welcome gift.” she said.
Mayra said she tried to stop the driver but he sped off turning east on Oceanside Blvd. A neighbors security camera was able to capture an image (above) of the van but it was too blurry to catch the license plate number. “It is a very distinctive van and I am hoping that someone will be able to identify the driver. The van will have damage to the passenger side.”
The video has been turned over to OPD.
“Luckily, I wasn’t hurt. It could have been much worse and he shouldn’t get away with it.” said Mayra. “It’s so disappointing to know people could be so reckless and so unwilling to accept responsibility.”
