Oceanside CA— Boys & Girls Clubs of Oceanside (BGCO) received $5,250 in grant funding from David C. Copley Foundation to support enriching afterschool programs and the new Center for Innovation.
The grant will assist in building a 2,000 square foot addition that will include a Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen, a Performing Arts Center and a STREAM (Science, Technology, Research, Engineering, Arts and Math) Lab. The new addition will provide career driven resources and hands-on education for youth.
The Culinary Arts Teaching Kitchen will give our teens a place to learn marketable job and valuable life skills. In addition, this facility will provide hot meals to at-risk youth, prepared by teen members.
The Performing Arts Center will provide a dedicated space for youth to engage in music, drama and dance programs and will include audio visual, lighting and stage production skills.
The STREAM Lab will be an interactive facility in which our youth can experiment and learn important problem solving skills. BGCO recognized early on that our youth needed to be better prepared in STEM fields and able to develop the 21st-century skills needed for future success. This space will provide that, and so much more!
“This generous grant funding will bring us that much closer to completing our amazing Center for Innovation. We are so grateful for community partners like the David C. Copley Foundation,” said Jodi Diamond, CEO.
BGCO is committed to ensuring all youth have the support and resources they need to make it to the academic finish line, graduating from high school with a plan for the future. The Center of Innovation will provide youth in our community the opportunity they deserve to experience quality programming in a state-of-the-art setting.
