Dr. Sunny Cooke, President MiraCosta College, and Michael Hadland, Chief of Staff for Assemblymember Rocky Chavez to address 2016 ballot propositions
Oceanside CA— On Monday, October 17th, please join the North County Republican Coalition (NCRC) to learn about the propositions on the 2016 California ballot. Dr. Sunita, “Sunny” Cooke, Superintendent/President of the MiraCosta Community College District, will address Proposition MM, the $455 Million MiraCosta College Facilities Bond. The bond would raise funds to update facilities such as the Veterans Center, career training areas and labs, instructional technology, and science centers. Additionally, repairs or replacements would be made to leaky roofs, restrooms, plumbing and electrical systems. Improvements would also be made to improve access for students with disabilities.
Dr. Sunita “Sunny” Cooke began her tenure as the superintendent/president of the MiraCosta Community College District in 2015. She has been a community college educator and administrator since 1993, and a president since 2007. A recognized community college leader, Dr. Cooke came to MiraCosta from Grossmont College, where she served as president from 2007 to 2014.
Dr. Cooke is a collaborative and innovative leader with a deep commitment to the comprehensive community college mission. Since 2012, she represented San Diego community colleges on the Workforce Investment Board and is the liaison with the State Chancellor’s Office regarding economic and workforce development efforts at the regional and state level. She is the chair of the statewide “Doing What Matters for Jobs and the Economy” campaign, a community college and industry collaboration that aims to close the skills gap.
Michael Hadland, Chief of Staff for CA Assemblymember Rocky Chavez, will address all 17 CA propositions on the November ballot. He will help NCRC members and guests decipher the 200+ page “Official Voter ‘Information Guide” recently mailed to California voters! Michael has been on the Chavez staff since 2012, and is a graduate of San Diego State University.
