Oceanside CA— The Oceanside Senior Anglers’ November 1 monthly meeting will host Joe Cacciola, captain of the Sea Star charter boat, docked in Oceanside Harbor, for over 35 years.
In addition to knowing the North County waters, where his charter guests can find fish, “Capt. Joe,” as he’s affectionately known, provides sea lab classes for grade school children, wounded military trips, along with weddings and burials at sea.
He will speak on the closing of the 2016 fishing experiences, and the expectations for the 2017 in-shore season.
Capt. Joe will also update the club on his plans for taking over the Oceanside landing in May of 2017, as the Oceanside Sea Center, adding well-known boats, educational, science, and a tourist-supporting component to the operation where Helgrin’s Sportfishing is now housed.
The club exclusively uses Capt. Joe and his boat for their four sponsored kids fishing trips each summer, taking 120 kids out for a day of fishing, at no cost to the local kid’s club and organizations.
The November general meeting of Southern California’s largest fishing club will be held at the Oceanside Senior Center, 455 Country Club Lane, 9:00 a.m. Open to all anglers age 50 and above. Visit OSAnglers.org.
