San Diego County CA— Representatives from Solutions for Change and Solutions Farms, based in Vista, will be explaining the benefits of their aquaponic farm – the largest in California – at the 2016 MIT Enterprise Forum San Diego Wine Social on July 27 at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla.
Solutions Farms is a unique aquaponic farm where nutrient-rich water from fish culture is used to nourish produce, which in turn purifies the water so it can be returned to the fish. Everything is done within the controlled environment of a greenhouse. It functions as a laboratory for teaching important work values and preparing people for re-entry into the workforce. This is the social enterprise function; accomplishing a worthwhile social purpose while also being a functioning business. Solutions Farms raises hope, as well as produce. Solutions Farms is an integral part of Solutions for Change, a nonprofit organization dedicated to solving family homelessness – one family, one community at a time.
This is the premier-networking event for San Diego’s technology and life sciences community and will be held on July 27 (6-9pm) at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla. There will be more than 35 boutique wineries pouring samples of their best wine; delicious bites from the French Gourmet and plenty of exhibitors. Proceeds help San Diego STEM and SEPT students.
