Oceanside CA— Students from the tax program at MiraCosta are currently providing tax preparation and e-filing through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). The VITA Program, sponsored by the IRS, offers free tax help to low- to moderate-income (generally, $50,000 and below) families who cannot prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers sponsored by various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax returns in communities across the country.
The VITA Program is offered through Interfaith Community Services at various locations around North San Diego County. For locations and appointments, call 760.721.2117. It is also offered through the Encinitas Community Resource Center at various locations. For more information on their locations and to set up an appointment, call 760.753.8300, x1301
For more information on MiraCosta College’s VITA training program, contact instructor Michael Deschamps, at mdeschamps@miracosta.edu or call 760.757.2121, x6488.
