San Diego CA— On Saturday, April 30, San Diego Coastkeeper invites San Diego to party for our water at its 5th annual Ocean Commotion Concert. The event at Campland on the Bay celebrates our aquatic playgrounds and raises money to protect and restore San Diego County’s water quality and supply.
“Ocean Commotion is a celebration of our water,” says San Diego Coastkeeper Interim Executive Director Travis Pritchard. “Local musicians, businesses, families and friends put things on hold for a night to celebrate what makes San Diego so great: our fishable, swimmable, drinkable water.”
Event sponsor Campland on the Bay provides the ideal outdoor setting for a night in honor of one of San Diego’s most precious resources. Beer will be served by local breweries and the stage remains in earshot of beach access to iconic Mission Bay. Attendees have the option to stay the night at Campland in a tent or RV.
Oceanside’s The Barnwell Shift will again donate their performance and headline the show. Known for their progressive, yet playful “shift rock,” The Barnwell Shift is a talented trio of musicians who shift musical instruments and genres while artfully blending the sounds of funk, folk and rock. The band challenges the traditional one-person, one-instrument musical norms while eliciting a truly unique crowd response filled with their smooth and shifty grooves.
Together, The Barnwell Shift and San Diego Coastkeeper started Ocean Commotion five years ago to unite musicians for a cause dear to residents of San Diego — clean water. The band and nonprofit recruit additional artists for the April 30 event, who all offer volunteer performances so that ticket costs wholly benefit San Diego Coastkeeper’s work. The organization will announce more bands soon.
In addition to funky music, guests can participate in an opportunity drawing for wonderful prizes from an array of local businesses. Past years’ drawings included gift certificates to restaurants and breweries, surf and skate gear, apparel, vacation stays, beach rentals and more.
Tickets to this April 30 event are $15 in advance and $20 day of the show. VIP parking inside Campland is also available for $10 per vehicle.
Tickets are available online today.
