Oceanside CA— The Filipino Cultural Celebration coming up in Oceanside on Saturday, June 6, will be presented by the Filipino-American Cultural Organization (FACO), in partnership with the Oceanside Public Library, Friends of the Oceanside Public Library and Tri-City Medical Center. These festivities will run from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., for their 14th year at the Oceanside Civic Center, Plaza and Library, located at 330 North Coast Highway in downtown Oceanside, California. Event admission is FREE and is open to the public.
This year’s theme is “The Philippines: The Jewel of Southeast Asia”, celebrating the country’s culture, costumes, cuisine and its citizens. Vendor booths will showcase authentic Philippine handicrafts and offer native art, Filipino cuisine, and a variety of products and services.
Visitors will also experience a Filipino cultural fashion show, modeling colorful regional costumes from around the islands; a cultural play, featuring Philippine folk dances. Special guest performers will include Global Pinoy Singing Idol 2014 winner Alessja Morales, and Star Quest champion, Leon Guico, as well as a variety of local Filipino American (Fil-Am) talents to perform during the Pinoy’s Got Talent segment.
Other event highlights will include the 2015 Mrs. Fil-Am, Mrs. Fil-Am Senior, Little Miss Fil-Am, and Miss Pre-teen Fil-Am pageants. The Library and volunteers will offer crafts and activities for children throughout the event, as well as Filipino displays inside the Library. This event is held each year on the Saturday closest to June 12, Philippine Independence Day.
