Oceanside CA— Join the Oceanside Public Library on April 11, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. for a day of Mark Twain fun and history. Children’s activities start at 1:00 p.m. and will be followed by Charles Harrington Elster at 2:00 p.m. with a lecture on the life of Mark Twain. For the kids, there will be a Twain story time followed by frog jumping, whitewashing and raft making. Come dressed in your Mark Twain, Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn best!
Charles Harrington Elster is a writer, broadcaster, and logophile-a lover of words. He has been talking about language on the radio since 1985. With fellow verbivore Richard Lederer, he founded and co-hosted a weekly public radio talk show on language called A Way with Words from 1998 to 2004. This lecture is a loving look at Mark Twain’s life, enduring humor and extraordinary gift for language.
This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library and the generous support of Library volunteers. For more information, please call (760) 435-5600.
