Oceanside CA— Tell your own story through patterns in paper. Join book artist Bhavna Mehta at the Oceanside Public Library for a five session instructional workshop that will guide in the creation of a personal journal. Participants will create a journal with personal drawings, cut paper, and written pieces that illustrate their identity. Drawings and patterns from personal objects will illustrate cultural backgrounds and ideas about home and belonging to slowly fill the journal.
Bhavna Mehta will then use these ideas to create a cut paper installation at the Oceanside Museum of Art. This installation will be the story of Oceanside, as told through the stories of workshop participants. These workshops are free, but reservations are required, and will be limited to the first 15 people. Call 760-435-5600 to register. No previous art experience necessary. All materials included.
